Silver Eagle's Letterbox Aerie

                                 TALE 16 - TX Proud

Come to our 16th TX Annual Letterbox Event (TALE) as we go west to the site of the Halloween Haunts Event held back in 2012.  Because it will be TX Independence Day I thought it would be nice to show our TX pride.  This can be any person, place, thing or event that makes you proud to be a Texan (or wish you were one).  This is not a State Park, so those passes won't work here, but hopefully it will be more letterbox tolerant.

Date:Saturday, 03/02/19
Time:09:00 AM - 09:00 PM
Location:Dining Hall in Kerrville-Schreiner Park - Kerrville, TX
Directions:From I10 go southwest on TX 16 for 0.5 mile, left on TX 534 Loop S for 4.3 miles, left on TX 173 for 0.2 mile then left on Park Rd 19 to Park Office. Check-in to pay fee and get code to the park gate.  Our reservation of the Dining Hall will cover Saturday entrance fees for first 50 people, so be sure to mention you are attending that event, which I have said is a Hiking Group.  Go back out to TX 173 and go right then left into hill side of the park, using code to open gate.  Stay left at junctions to Dining Hall on right.  NO PETS ALLOWED IN HALL.
Details:You may R.S.V.P. for the Event on Atlas Quest. The Dining Hall is a screened facility with picnic tables for up to 100 people and a kitchen with sink, refrigerator & microwave. Baby Bear is making the Event Stamp and poster and we will bring a copier to copy clues. Saturday will be a potluck lunch and dinner so be sure to bring some food to share and list it when signing up for the Event. Everyone should bring drinks for themselves. Here are some other things to consider bringing: letterbox materials, clues to boxes already in the park, boxes to place, paper & pen to write clues, trash bags, donations for raffle, paper plates, plastic flatware, bug spray and anything else to make the day more fun.

There are tent/RV sites & cabins in the park that can be reserved online. Hotels and other tent/RV sites can be found in Kerrville in Kerr County, or Comfort in Kendall County.

Event Activities:Exchanging, letterboxing, eating and a raffle. There are many trails for hiking/biking at hill side of park, and kayak/canoe rentals at river side of park.
Other Nearby Activities:If you have extra time, I recommend visiting Enchanted Rock SNA & Fredericksburg.  If you want to visit the birthplace of TX, go to Washington-on-the-Brazos SHS
